Great place great food.
This is our first time to this pub, the atmosphere was great the staff very friendly and the food was amazing. I had the beef medallions, which are many pieces of fillet steak cooked perfectly. It came with a Stilton and bacon sauce which was also very good but I used this to dunk the chips as the steak was so good on its own. Hand cut fresh chips not frozen . My wife had fish and chips again perfectly cooked and the batter was like old fashioned fish batter , excellent. They also have real bitter beer, not just the new fashion of pale ales.

Last-Minute Stay Exceeded Expectations
I had the pleasure of staying at the White Lion Inn recently, and I can’t praise it enough. Wendy, the landlady, went above and beyond to accommodate me with a last-minute room and made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay. Our first visit last night for dinner with our daughter and son in law and we were not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious, excellent quality, and well presented. The staff were exceptional in their service, the whole feel of the place was warm, cosy and relaxing. A perfect night out 💕

Always looking for a new place to bring friends & this is now on our list. Spent a lovely evening here with our neighbours/friends enjoying the cosy surroundings & a delightful meal. Three of the four of us chose the Chicken Kiev, which was really,really good. I highly recommend this, followed by the Pistachio Tiramisu. Great meal in wonderful company, with excellent service ( Henry ) in a traditional old pub. What more does anyone need. Thank you …..White Lion ………………… We will return, now I know where Soberton is..!

Delicious food - will definitely return!
Visited for dinner after the White Lion was recommended by a friend. This really is a lovely cosy pub with a great atmosphere. Beer line up is exceptional and the food is brilliant. I had the Kiev and my wife had risotto with slow cooked beef. Both were absolutely delicious. We have since recommended the pub to lots of friends and family who have all visited with 5* reviews! Will definitely return!

Great traditional pub
Lovely traditional pub, food is hot and fresh with a good range of choices on the menu. Staff are welcoming and attentive without being pushy. The only downside is the lack of parking, very limited space outside and a narrow lane with rough stone wall in the approach - scraped my car for the second time 🙈

Exceptional Lunch
Treated my 14 year old grandson to lunch. He had a burger, I had calves liver, and we both had a dessert (which I only had to keep him company as I was quite full). We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, but I would like to say that my main course, the calves liver with crispy bacon, bubble and squeak with a red wine jus, was probably one of the best pub meals I've ever had. The bill came to under £60, which considering we had 4 plates of food and drinks, I consider very fair. Can't believe this was my first visit, it certainly won't be the last.

I booked in for a Sunday roast. We had never been here but thought we would take a chance. The pub was very busy but the staff made the extra effort to make us feel welcome. The food was very very good and generous size portions, ( my wife nearly did not have a pudding). It is 30 mins drive from our home but we will definitely be returning for an evening meal as we were both so impressed.
We are a dog friendly pub in the Bar and outside areas however we do not allow Dogs in the restaurant area. Please do not book online if you are intending on bringing you Dog as we will be unable to fufill your table request in the restaurant.
